FAQs

Your First Class

FAQ: FAQ

When should I register?

We encourage registering online for classes at least 24 hours in advance. Classes fill up fast.

Is there a weight limit for pole class?

The maximum weight limit for our poles is 320 lbs. If you exceed that weight, don't worry! You can attend our floorwork and body conditioning classes. Women of every size are wanted here at Elevate YOU!

What should I wear for pole class?

  • Booty shorts and tank tops or sports bras

  • Knee pads

  • Socks

Also acceptable:

  • Bodysuits

  • Swim suit tops

  • Swim suit bottoms

What should I wear for conditioning, crossfit, or chair dance classes?

  • Athletic/dance shorts

  • Bodysuits

  • Leggings

  • Sports Bras/Bathing suits tops

  • Bathing suit bottoms

  • Tank Tops

  • T-shirts

Is there anything I shouldn't wear?

  • Sheer or see-through material

  • Jeans

  • Shoes that aren't heels (unless medically necessary)

Can I wear heels?

If you have heels, you can bring them, but we strongly advise students who are new to pole not to wear heels their first day of class. We'll teach you to use those heels, eventually!

When should I arrive for class?

We strongly encourage you to arrive to at least 10 minutes before your schedule class. Classes start precisely on time.

What if I am late?

Proper warm-up is required for all classes. If you are more than 10 minutes last to class, we reserve the right to have you warmup on your own. No student is allowed to participate in class without a proper warm-up. Warming up is important because without it, your muscles will not be as flexible and are more prone to tear. Likewise joints and tendons can be strained or torn if they have not been properly primed to work out.

If you are more than 15 minutes late, you cannot participate in class. There are no refunds if you arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of class.

Is there any paperwork to sign?

We keep physical waiver copies, so you must sign the waiver when you arrive at the studio for your first class. Adults over the age of 18 must sign a waiver before joining their first class. Parental consent is required for students under the age of 18. You will only be asked to sign a waiver before your first class.

Is there somewhere for me to get changed?

We have a bathroom where you can change if you're coming to class straight from work or to get out of your sweaty clothes after class. It's important to change out of wet clothes as soon as possible. We highly recommend bringing a clean, dry change of clothes or at least underwear to change into if it will take you more than a half an hour to get home and change. Icky things such as ringworm, UTIs, and yeast infections can occur if you sit around in wet clothes for extended periods of time.

Do you have a code of conduct?

No, but we have common sense, and we hope you do, too. Respect instructors and sister students at all times. If you need to use your cell phone, please do so in the lobby. Disrespectful, rude, discouraging, and bullying behavior is not tolerated and students displaying such behavior will be asked to leave immediately.

What about my privacy?

The Elevate YOU studio is a safe space. Students wishing to record themselves are welcome to do so if the recording is intended for private use. Recording for purposes of distribution (such as on social media) is only acceptable with the verbal consent of the other participants in class. This is because it is impossible in a group class not to capture images of other students. Anyone caught recording without the express permission of other students will be asked to stop and delete their recordings.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Packages – You have 5 weeks to complete your 5 class package.

  • Cancellation - within 48 - 24 hrs before class starts. If not, class will be forfeited.

  • Single/Freestyle Classes – Please see “Lateness Policy” NO REFUNDS

  • Private classes: 24hr cancellation is required for private classes.

Can I get a refund for a class I miss or transfer it to a new date?

You can get a refund if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the class you signed up for. You can also choose to put your balance toward attending the same class at a later date in lieu of a refund.

If you sign up for a course, please make sure you will be able to attend every class scheduled for that course. If you are unable to attend a class due to an emergency or unforeseen situation, please contact your instructor to make arrangements to make up your class. If you are unable to attend a course entirely after signing up, you can get a refund for the course if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the first class, or you can apply your balance to the same course with a different start date.

Can I attend classes if I have a handicap?

Yes, you absolutely can!

Many of our students have chronic pain, limited mobility, or occasional aches and pains which can be debilitating. If you are experiencing any of these conditions, we recommend you begin by taking one of our Low Impact Pole classes. The instructor will ask you before class what conditions you are dealing with so she can come up with moves that will not exacerbate existing problems.

If you are unable to take a Low Impact Pole class, please sign up for an All Level class, a Level 1 class, or our Introduction to Pole course. Please let your instructor know at the beginning of class about injuries or difficulties so that they can come up with alternate moves for you to perform as needed.

If you have a more inhibiting physical disability such as blindness, deafness, loss of limbs or loss of ability to use limbs, etc., or you have a mental disability that may affect your comprehension or motor functions, please call or email us before signing up for your first class so that we may make every effort to accommodate you and make your experience the best it can be.
